You have done a lot of modifications to it, but the mileage is getting up there, along with the age of your truck.  It depends how quickly you want to sell it?  If you can afford to wait until the right offer comes along and you aren't in any hurry to sell it, maybe try doing what Clutch said, but if you need to sell it quickly I would say it's worth $7000 (bare minimum) but you should be able to get at least $8500 for your truck as it sits right now.  Are there any mechanical problems?  Is the overall body in decent shape?

Just for reference, after my accident last year, the appraiser told me that my old truck (bone stock) was worth $10K excluding all of the modifications, being that it was a fully loaded crew cab Z71 with barely any rust on it and right around 200,000 kms on the odometer, but keep in mind that's market value through insurance.

The only way you're getting $15k on a trade in is if you're buying a vehicle that they're really trying to get rid of, or expensive enough that the trade in value is built into the price.

Example: I bought a Cavalier for my mother in law once and trader her 10yr old Cav in. It was worth all of about $750. They gave me $6k for it. It didn't matter to them whether the $6k came off in discount or trade, but it made a big difference to us.

I paid $16k for my 11 new.

August 2011.

I didn't even need a truck, my 06 was still fine (with almost 300k) but I was at work,  saw the ad in the paper and said if this is true I'm buying a truck on the way home tonight.
Got home from work and said to my wife, guess what I just bought...

Hoping to find the same kind of deal on a new one in the next few years. It's all about timing.

Now is a great time to shop around for a truck. Dealerships are desperate for sales around xmas. Especially at the end of the momth.

A bit of what's happening right now is buyers from the states are buying our vehicles for the exchange rate profit, as well as wise Canadians are trying too.  My boss and his friend just sold their trucks to people flipping them down to the states in the last week.  My Pops has done it as well in the last 2 years, plus buying one from Texas last time the exchange rate was good (and their market sucked at the time).

On that It wouldn't hurt to try for the extra 3k, who knows if they take it...

I just bought a car for my wife and that wasn't my experience. I ended up buying used because nobody was that interested in negotiating.

Every chevy dealer around here is still in single digit vehicle sales for this month. December and January are the worst months to be a commision salesman. Might be different in your neck of the woods. I was offered 8k for my truck on a trade in when I paid 4200 for it. Just not liking the new bigger body style. Maybe the oil industry being slow is affecting sales here. New car sales are the most motivated at the end of the month to meet sales targets.
