20 Sep 2017 - Fall 2017 Newsletter

FALL 2017 NEWSLETTER

Introduction:

With summer at it's end and with winter just around the corner, fall is the time to enjoy that last bit of warm weather. For the lifted members this is one of the best times to go out and find some muddy trails. For the lowered members that put their trucks away for the winter, it's that last time to get out and go for a drive. Whether you're one of those lifted or lowered members, make sure to get out and enjoy these last days of warm weather and take some picture cause it's the perfect time with all the different colors.  Over the past few months the Canada355 community had two large truck meets. Back in the middle of May was a BBQ / Show n Shine at the Rock-N-Wash in Edmonton, Alberta to help raise money and collect donations in support of The Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society - GEARS which is an organization dedicated to helping & protecting animals. Then in the beginning of June was Canada355's 9th Annual Western Canada Super Meet, with (7) members from Alberta and (1) member from the USA making the trip to Jasper for a fun filled weekend. Thank you to all of the members who attended both of these truck meets and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.

We are excited to announce that coming up in the next few months, we will be starting to collect submissions for the upcoming 2018 Canada355.ca Calendar Submission Contest, as well as, conducting another Fundraising Contest to help keep the site going, so stay please tuned for more details. The Canada355.ca community is continuously growing with over 1000 members and more active members everyday.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank our members, because without you guys & gals none of this would have been possible. It is important to keep the club growing, so lets get out there and collect new members! Whether it's a local Colorado/Canyon that you see driving around or a fellow owner on another site, invite them to the club. If you have an idea or suggestion for the site, please feel free to contact one of the admins or moderators, because this is your site/club too and you are the largest part of it.

Welcoming New Members:
Canada355.ca would like to welcome all of the new members that joined our site in the past few months. The Canada355.ca community currently is continuing to grow. We encourage new members to introduce themselves to the site in the "New to the Forum.." section where you will find an introduction post already created for you. Be sure to tell us a little bit about yourself and your truck and how you found the site. We're all photo junkies, so if you have some pictures of your truck, post them too. I can assure you that you'll get an overwhelming response from your fellow enthusiasts and lots of welcomes.

If you have any questions you can refer to the Official New Member Handbook. Also make sure to review the Canada355.ca Site Guidelines and Regulations.

Please join us in welcoming all our new members to the site...

Canada355.ca Awards:
The Canada355.ca Award System is a method for member recognition. These awards are given to members that have gone above and beyond on the site in some form or another.  There is a wide variety of awards that can be given to our members. Some are awarded for their success, some for their contributions and commitment to the Canada355.ca community, some for attending and participating in Canada355.ca Super meets and even some for their unfortunate successes. Please click HERE to see the list of Canada355
So we figured that we would start accepting submissions for the 2018 Canada355.ca calendar earlier in hopes that members will take advantage of the last days of good weather and go out and take some good calendar quality photos.  If you haven't had the chance, we are a little more prepared this year and we are going to start accepting photo submissions early, hopefully giving everyone the chance to go out and get those perfect pictures.  Because of the great success of images we received the last couple years, we are going to keep it the same, all members of Canada355.ca will have the opportunity to get their truck in the 2018 Canada355.ca calendar by submitting the best pictures of their truck to be judged by the Canada355.ca Staff who will be responsible for deciding which images will be used to make a calender that is full of amazing, impressive images.

Note: Remember that you can change your submitted photos at anytime you wish before the deadline, so don't feel obligated to wait because you don't have the perfect picture.  Submit your photos that you have today and if you acquire better photos free feel to change them before the deadline.

So, it is now time to start submitting your best pictures for the 2018 Canada355.ca calendar!

Rules for the pictures are as follows:
  • Only your truck. Group shots will not be used. If there are other vehicles in the frame, that is okay, but the picture must be focused on your truck.
  • No pictures of you with your truck. Don't need you cheesin with your truck. If you are driving it and not making a stupid face at the camera and it's a great shot, we might end up using it.
  • Pictures need to be of a high resolution (ie. taken with a digital camera - 2500 pixels or larger is preferred) but don't worry if you can't upload the image, once the deadline is reached you will be sent a message by PM asking you to email your high resolution pictures.
  • No photoshopped pictures, pretty self explanatory there.
  • No HDR, black and white, tilt shift, sepia, etc. pictures - self explanatory again but tweaking the photo a little with contrast and color correction is fine.
  • Pictures must include the whole truck. The truck must be in the entire frame and not cut-off at all.
  • No more than 4 pictures max, just place them all in one post. If you find better ones, replace them. You have until the deadline to do this and you can change them around as much as you want.
  • Any license plates will be blurred out later.

Please check out the previous year's calendars for examples of what types of images made the cut, just click HERE to visit the Canada355.ca 2015 Calendar - Complete Preview and click HERE to visit the Canada355.ca 2014 Calendar - Complete Preview, if there is anything you are curious about post up and ask.

Tips to make the cut: Go out and make an effort to get some good pictures. Pictures of your truck sitting in your driveway from the front door are not something we are looking for. Find something interesting to park in front of. Quality shots will get your picture into this calendar before cell phone pictures taken in the parking lot in the middle of the night. If you aren't making the effort to get good shots, then I don't feel you really care if you are in the calendar or not. Utilize weather to your advantage. Snow, fog and rain can make for some great pictures, be creative.
SPRING / SUMMER 2017 NEWSLETTER

Introduction:
The next few months are the best months of year for the Canada355 community.  Not only because the weather is starting to get warmer and the sun is starting to shine, not only because of the shows, meets and mudding available.  But because in the next few months Canada355 will be hosting a couple of very big events, one is the 9th Annual Western Canada Super Meet and the other is a BBQ / Show n Shine fundraiser in support of The Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society - GEARS which is an organization dedicated to helping & protecting animals.

The first event will be taking place June 2nd-4th in Jasper, Alberta and it's not too late to attend. The 9th Annual Western Canada Super Meet only comes once a year, it is a fun filled weekend, consisting of show n shine, group dinner at the Jasper Brewing Company, with the ability to mod if needed cause this is the time to get all the help you need, awards and raffle prizes and lots of shenanigans and memories to be made. Click HERE for more details regarding this years 9th Annual Western Canada Super Meet.

The second event will be a BBQ / Show n Shine happening on Saturday, May 13th from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm at the Rock-N-Wash in Edmonton, Alberta to help raise money and collect donations in support of The Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society - GEARS which is an organization dedicated to helping & protecting animals. Make sure to bring some money because you'll be able to purchase raffle tickets for $10 each to possibly win some very nice prizes. There will be a local food truck on site, Mr. Chimi Churri - The Argentinian Barbeque King, helping us out with the barbeque. So please click HERE for more details regarding this BBQ / Show n Shine hosted by the Rock-N-Wash.

Thank you for being a part of the Canada355 community, without you guys & gals this would have not been possible. It is important to keep the club growing, lets get out there and collect new members, whether its a local Colorado/Canyon that you see driving around or a fellow owner on another site, invite them to the club. If they are really interested in the site see if they are interested in attending the nearest local Monthly Mini Meet, or better yet make sure they attend of the this year's Super Meets.  If you have any ideas or suggestions for the site, please free feel to contact one of the admins or moderators, because this is your site/club too and you can be a part of it.
